Charette Designs was launched in 2000 by its founder and principal, Cynthia Charette. A native of Nashville, Tennessee, Ms. Charette received a design degree from Syracuse University. She apprenticed with the Royal Shakespeare Company in London, England and conducted post-graduate studies at New York's School of Visual Arts. Her professional career began in theater design which lead to twenty years of experience working as a production designer for television and film. Her credits include Austin Powers, Sunset Strip, and HBO's "Norma Jean and Marilyn". As production designer, Ms. Charette is responsible for the design and look of the film from concept to creation. This requires an extensive knowledge of all period styles, architecture, color and graphics, as well as managing budgets, deadlines, and the entire crew that assembles and fabricates the sets. It is this experience and expertise that gives Charette Designs the edge over other design firms. Ms. Charette's goal is simple: to create a place you love. Her strategy is to employ a personal approach which includes listening to the client's needs and helping them to create and develop their individual style and personal elegance. Charette Designs provides complete plans, including drapery, cabinetry, and surface specifications. Ms. Charette calls upon her extensive list of craftsmen (formed over many years in the film and design industry) for your project: including freelance architects, sculptors, fabricators, muralists and more. Cynthia's work has been featured in House Beautiful magazine, the Christopher Lowell show and KTLA . Ms. Charette is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and the Los Angeles Conservancy for Historic Preservation.
